Six Local Road Closures and Roadworks

 

We have been informed of the following temporary road closures and roadworks which are likely to cause delays, and they are shown in date order.

1.

Birling Avenue ~ long term closure

Birling Avenue will be closed from 11th November until 17th February 2020 to enable SGN to replace gas mains.

2.

Thurnham Lane – temporary road closure

Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on Thurnham Lane on 25th November for up to 5 days.
The road will be closed between Fancy Row and Claymore, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ware Street, Hockers Lane, The Street, Pilgrims Way, Thurnham Lane and vice versa.

Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

3.

Maidstone Town Centre – temporary road closure

From 27th November the A229 Bishops Way, Palace Avenue and Lower Stone Street, Maidstone will be closed between the junctions with High Street and A249 Mote Road for resurfacing works.

The closure will be in force between 21:00 and 05:00 and work is scheduled for completion by 6th December.

Water Lane at the Roundwell junction ~ long term closure

Water Lane near its junction with Roundwell will be closed between 2nd and 23rd December to allow a main sewer connection to be made.

5.

New Cut Road ~ traffic lights

Two way traffic lights will be in operation near the southern end of New Cut Road between 27th January and 14th February 2020.

6.

Windmill Heights ~ temporary road closure

Windmill Heights will be closed from February 17th to February 21st 2020 to enable SGN to replace gas mains.
